Well hello there! Sorry for being off the blogging scene for a bit but February just swooped me away. This month marked my boyfriend and I’s first year anniversary which we celebrated with a little trip to Washington DC. It was his first time and he loved it and I always love visiting that city. You’re always surrounded by great people and fun sites! After getting back from that we have been getting hit with a lot of snow and I have been running around for work. Nonetheless I have found small spurts in the day to pick up my new favorite book and gobble up each and every syllable because it is so good! The novel I am referring to is written by Maria Semple who I find to be so effortless in her speech and it feels like your best friend is telling you the greatest story! The story I am referring to is Where’d You Go Bernadette. This novel is created around Bernadette’s fascinating yet simple life which is something she battles with daily. From being this world famous architect who had it all and slowly taking on the role of being a supportive wife for her husband who is a big deal over at Microsoft and taking care of their ever-charming daughter, Bee. I can see a little of myself in all of these characters. Bee is curious and wants to take on the role of an adult really quickly. She wants to know everything and loves being with her mom. Bernadette is a free spirit who is confined by society to fall into a certain role that I’m not sure she is really crazy about just yet. But after Bernadette runs off to Antarctica she maybe questions what she wants. I know that lately I feel torn and this book is allowing me to find humor in life. I am a creative soul who enjoys experiences instead of objects. I want to travel the world and spend as much time with my family as humanly possible. I want to be a wife and mother some day but be able to pick up and go when I want. I want to make a beautiful living for myself but only do everything I love. It’s hard to have it all, almost near impossible, but the least we can all do is find joy in going after it all. I suggest you all read this book and let me know your thoughts on it as well! Yesterday while at work (in an office with no windows) it started to flurry. Which then turned into a blizzard. And as stressful as snow can be I can't let it bog me down; I live in New England. As I sat the day away typing ferociously and answering emails I finally stepped outside to grab a coffee. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the snow - snow in the city is beautiful. However, I then thought I did not dress appropriately for this weather! Below are some of the pieces I wish I had and will certainly be looking into this week. What are your favorites? Xo, Carly At the beginning of each week it's so hard to get out the weekend mode. I just want to stay in my bed all day, watch so much Bravo network, and meander about town looking for new stores and coffee places. But instead, I am forced to be a contributing human to society and go to work. Ugh. However, I realized something. When I am home just lounging, I think I look like this: But in reality, I look like this: As much as I would love to be able to wear glorious silk loungewear with chunky knit robes I tend to just throw on whatever I find! And Jessica Day is the absolute coolest; so whatever. I feel like I want to give my loungewear/sleepwear a makeover though. Check it out! So pick what works for you, get yourself a cup of Yogi tea, and watch that trash tv! Enjoy :-)
Xo, Carly Good morning! Tonight a girlfriend of mine is hosting a Stella & Dot Jewelry Party at her house. It has been a while since I have bought myself a little something and I think tomorrow I shall indulge. However I am asking for your help. I am so undecided because of course I want everything. Take a look at some of my options and let me know what you think :-) Of course I need jewelry but sometimes I need to be sensible. Next month the boyfriend and I are going away for a long weekend. Maybe I'll get a cute overnight bag? Xo,
Carly I recently started my new job at an upscale hotel in Boston. I am working closely with clients each day and showcasing our beautiful event space. At my old job I could wear my favorite worn in jeans and a quirky sweater and throw my hair on top of my head. Now I actually need to wake up early and look presentable, ugh. However, I am now getting used to it and having fun with it! It's nice to have to put effort into my outfit choices each day. With the busy event season ahead of me it's time to network, which means my favorite kind of meetings; cocktails. I like to wear something during the day that I can then frouff up for after work cocktails. Below is a good go to! Day Night Want to buy? See below. Lace Top . Skinny Jeans . Black Cardigan . Black Moto Jacket . Classic Flats . Strappy Heels . Black Tote . Black Clutch . Wrist-watch . Studded Cuff . Simple Studs . Statement Necklace Xo,
