Well hello there! Sorry for being off the blogging scene for a bit but February just swooped me away. This month marked my boyfriend and I’s first year anniversary which we celebrated with a little trip to Washington DC. It was his first time and he loved it and I always love visiting that city. You’re always surrounded by great people and fun sites! After getting back from that we have been getting hit with a lot of snow and I have been running around for work. Nonetheless I have found small spurts in the day to pick up my new favorite book and gobble up each and every syllable because it is so good! The novel I am referring to is written by Maria Semple who I find to be so effortless in her speech and it feels like your best friend is telling you the greatest story! The story I am referring to is Where’d You Go Bernadette. This novel is created around Bernadette’s fascinating yet simple life which is something she battles with daily. From being this world famous architect who had it all and slowly taking on the role of being a supportive wife for her husband who is a big deal over at Microsoft and taking care of their ever-charming daughter, Bee. I can see a little of myself in all of these characters. Bee is curious and wants to take on the role of an adult really quickly. She wants to know everything and loves being with her mom. Bernadette is a free spirit who is confined by society to fall into a certain role that I’m not sure she is really crazy about just yet. But after Bernadette runs off to Antarctica she maybe questions what she wants. I know that lately I feel torn and this book is allowing me to find humor in life. I am a creative soul who enjoys experiences instead of objects. I want to travel the world and spend as much time with my family as humanly possible. I want to be a wife and mother some day but be able to pick up and go when I want. I want to make a beautiful living for myself but only do everything I love. It’s hard to have it all, almost near impossible, but the least we can all do is find joy in going after it all. I suggest you all read this book and let me know your thoughts on it as well! Last night was the 56th Grammy Awards and in my opinion the fashion wasn't mind-blowing. I always feel like this awards show, which is based on beautiful amazing music being created between all these different artists, should be daring in the fashion world. That isn't to say though that I didn't like any of the outfits I saw; because I certainly did! Before I get into the ones I loved; let's just have another look at this park ranger here :-) Pharrell Williams brought his Smokey the Bear look and did it well! Now for my ladies that dressed beautiful! Kelly Osbourne is one of my favorite people out there! I love watching her on E! and her dad, who we all know, was too cute on the red carpet. I'm torn on this dress because I wish it was a bit more fitted or something accentuated her amazing waist line. Regardless; she worked her dad's cross necklace into it and this photo doesn't show it - but it's hanging down her back. I love a sentimental piece on anyone. I had to call it a tie because these dresses are so perfect for the Grammys and these lovely ladies. Taylor Swift looks so statuesque in this Gucci gown. And Guiliana is sleek and stunning in this Alex Perry gown. Who do you think won??
Xo, Carly I'm the type of person who starts a work out and then craves a whole pizza immediately after (and then I usually get a whole pizza after the workout!) But I have to give myself some credit because for the last two weeks - very long time for me - I have stayed at it! I have been going to the gym everyday and really staying focused. Now with Valentine's Day around the corner I thought it would be a great idea to get in the spirit to gain motivation and look cute. The items below are some of my new faves, enjoy! These tanks are so awesome for working out in because they are cheap so you don't feel so bad for sweating in them. But then they are cute enough to run and grab a smoothie after, you never know who you could bump into! Xo,
Carly This weekend I did some shopping to prep for spring (can't wait!) and wandered about the Ikea Marketplace for some inspiration. I can always find something there. This time when I wandered about I saw a lot of things that that inspired me for clothing choices too. I love to be able to look at all objects and see how they can transition into different needs (i.e. outfits, home decor, accessories, paint colors). How are you prepping for spring? Portrait Collar Sweater . Nantucket Colored Jeans . Waterfall Cardigan I got all of these items during "Whale of a Sale" at Vineyard Vines - check it out!! Vineyard Vines. Xo,
